How do you accept your body when the world keeps telling you it's not enough?

Every mirror, every ad, every offhand comment from someone who "means well" is a quiet reminder that your body is apparently a problem waiting to be fixed.

Body acceptance sounds beautiful in theory and feels almost impossible in a world that profits from your insecurity.

Have you ever made peace with your body — even just for a moment — and what did that feel like, and how did you get there?

  1. For me, peace came when I stopped comparing my body to other people. My body may not be perfect, but it carries me every day, lets me walk, work, and enjoy life. Some days I still have insecurities, but I try to focus more on what my body can do rather than how it looks.

  2. As a fat and single woman, I also had many insecurities before. Sometimes people make comments and it can really hurt. But little by little, I learned to be kinder to myself. My body is not perfect, but it helps me live my life every day. I still have days when I don’t feel confident, but I try to appreciate myself more and compare less with others. That gave me some peace.
